Korean government has launched ¡°National Responsibility for Dementia¡±, a bold approach to overcome the increasing demands of Dementia. ¡°National Responsibility for Dementia¡± was designed to meet the unmet needs along the progress of dementia by establishing dementia an-sim(äÌãý) center and dementia an-sim(äÌãý) hospital nationwide and by decreasing the burden for the medical and welfare expenses of the patient and caregivers. To implement the plan successfully, we should overcome some major ¡°HURDLES¡±: moral hazard, uneven resources, referral system, and deficient beds for patients with severe behavioral problems, leadership, expenses, and specialty. The strategies to overcome these major hurdles are suggested.
